If you’re looking to build a successful online business without a plan your chances are very low. So a question that should be asked before you start is “What are the steps in creating an online business?”

Here are 3 steps that if followed will have you running a thriving online business.

Step 1 requires some research on your behalf. Find a program or opportunity that offers a great product and compensation plan. You will want to be rewarded for building a large team below you and there are quite a few multi level marketing programs around that will substantially pay you for doing this.

The building of your team will be the foundation of the program but you will also want the products offered to be of some worth. People will look at the products to see what type of program it is and if the standard is not there they may turn away.

Step 2 requires you to build a website. You may need to learn some html or hire someone to build your website for you but it’s proven that the best way to create a successful online business is to have your own website. In Phase One of Building Your Online Business, I described developing a solid plan. A plan takes all of the guesswork out of the equation. Your plan is invaluable because it will describe in detail what you want your website to do. The plan will help the web developer understand what you want the website to do and what goals it must accomplish.  The plan does not have to be a lengthy thesis. Just a simple one page description will suffice. Try to be as descriptive a possible.

The plan you choose must include the following phases:

Planning Your Online Business Getting a Website Designed and Developed (you are here) Setting up an E-Commerce Shopping Cart CRM (Customer Relations Management) Getting Your Website Indexed in the Search Engines Online Advertising Email Marketing Start a Blog and/or Forum Social Networking Go to Step 1

The order of the above phases is only a suggestion. The is order is up to you, but each of them should be implemented.

Phase 2 : Getting a Website Designed and Developed

Once you have your plan written, Phase 2 of Building Your Online Business is to have your website designed and developed. A great design is extremely important to your online business. In the online world, it is even more true that first impressions are everything. A websites design is not just about pretty pictures and colors. Your website is the perfect marketing resource that will keep your current and future customers informed. It should contain all of your company’s information, brochures and other materials. Are you going sale your products through your website? All of these things must be considered in your design.

When I started my network marketing business almost twelve months ago, I didn’t know anything about marketing or promotion. As the song goes: “what a long strange trip it’s been”.

 

Even though the learning curve has been a steep one I am still in the game because of discovering a simple technique called attraction marketing.

 

Before learning attraction marketing techniques I made all the classic mistakes newbie network marketers make, like handing out business cards & flyers, chasing family & friends, cold calling genealogy lists, buying expensive low quality dead end leads and basically dialing for dollars.

 

The problem was not my work ethic, but rather my lack of understanding when it came to attracting the right kind of prospect. I was advertising to everybody and anyone, thinking that the more people I could reach the better my results. Sure, it generated a lot of leads and some people quickly signed up, but they only lasted a couple of months and then they were gone.

 

Fortunately, I recognized that I had to change my marketing plan or I was going to keep losing money, because the message I was conveying was that what I do is so easy that anybody can do it. Big mistake, I found out the hard way that this kind of advertising only attracts lazy people or opportunity seekers that were looking for a get rich quick scheme.

A lot of people have always wanted to have successful online businesses as they realise that a lot of successful internet marketers are earning at least a six figure incomes. However they fail to realise the personality behind those six figure incomes.

This is the reason why when these people encountered the first sign of obstacles or roadblocks, they would easily give up and then wonder why they were not successful.

The truth is that behind those six figure incomes are hard work, patience, determination, persistence, honesty and not forgetting humility.

Hard work

When you saw successful people, you thought that they gained their successes overnight because you never knew them before they became successful. The truth is that these people had worked hard and had been through a lot before enjoying the success as you see them today.

The successful online marketers built their successful online empire from scratch where they had to build effective websites, create good products, bring in traffic to their businesses and maintain good relationships with their customers.

They had worked long hours and did not give in to instant gratification such as watching television or just wasting time doing nothing. There was always something to do in the process of building their online businesses until they reached success. Only then they would slow down a bit to enjoy the fruit of success that they achieved.
